Driver of the “Running Wild” top fuel dragster was a wrestler in High School and College. He was on the US team three times and went to the Olymic trails in 1976. He made it to the finals for the 1980 US Olympic team. He also coached High School wrestling for 8 years.

Current crew chief for High Speed Motorsports is the son of Jerry Johansen, crew chief of the Howard Cams Rattler driven by Larry Dixon Sr. At the ripe age of 19, Jerry was the tuner of the Howard’s Twin Bear, winner of the first NHRA Winternationals held at Pomona in 1961. Brett’s grandfather, Howard Johansen is a Drag Racing Hall of Fame member inducted in 1991 after his passing.
