Bakersfield Open For Testing

Auto Club Raceway Famoso in Bakersfield has scheduled the two weekends preceding the March Meet as Test & Tune weekends for teams wishing to shake down new equipment, or simply those who wish to shake off the cobwebs from the off-season hiatus.

Those attending will get a chance to experience the new ultra-smooth, all-concrete track surface that was laid during the off-season. Track operators John and Blake Bowser have taken further steps to avoid having a ‘green surface’ by investing in the same type of machine used by NHRA to lay rubber on the track. Observers at the recent NHRA Winternationals noted that the low qualifier runs in Fuel Funny Car and Pro Stock we made by some of the first cars down the track during the first qualifying sessions. That rare occurrence was undoubtedly due in large part to the new equipment.

Gates will open at the Bakersfield track at 7 am on Saturday, March 5th and Sunday, March 6th, and again the following weekend March 12-13.
