Nostalgia Top Fuel Dragsters Headed for Kentucky
National Hot Rod Reunion Will Feature 8 Car NTF Show
Fans in and around the Bluegrass State will have a chance to witness the next major appearance of the front engine Top Fuel Dragsters. On June 16th-18th the 9th Annual Holley / NHRA Hot Rod Reunion will present an open eight car show featuring the popular Nostalgia Top Fuel cars. Also on the docket will be Nostalgia Funny Cars, Junior Fuel Dragsters, and other Heritage Series classes.
Beech Bend Raceway Park, located in Bowling Green, Kentucky and the host of the NHRR, has initiated a revised format for this year’s event by moving it a day forward and scheduling it to run on Thursday through Saturday. Racers and fans alike have voiced their support of the new schedule which was adopted to make allowances for any possible delays, such as rain, which has plagued the race in the past.
A strong contingent of Nostalgia Top Fuel cars have indicated their intention to participate at the event. They include Art Dromgoole’s Backyard Guys with Texan David Pace at the wheel, Lincoln Hassell, Joe Hendrick’s Old Time Racing entry with Randy Bridges driving, the 264 MPH Crop Duster car of Illinois Frank Ousley with Jimi Young in the seat, Ernie McClain in Stephen McClain’s Tri-State Racing car, Joe Krupinski, The Telstar of Wisconsin’s Charlie Proite being driven by Diamond Dave Miller, and the recent winner of the Nite of Fire & Thunder in Colorado, Roger ‘Radar’ Lechtenberg in Dale an Kat Suhr’s Orange Crate from Iowa.
Top Fuel qualifying will get underway on Thursday with a single session at 2PM. Friday will have two more qualifying sessions, the first at 4PM and then an exciting session under the lights at 8:30PM. Final eliminations will kick off at 11AM on Saturday.
